By default, events, task lists, documents, document folders, and discussions inherit the default security settings that the creator of the project configured in the Roles and Permissions page of the Project Editor. Changes made to the security settings through the Project Editor cascade to all objects that are configured to inherit the default privileges. These changes apply to the objects retroactively.
Alternatively, you can give security settings to an object that are independent from the default security settings set at the project level. If you clear the Inherit Default Security Settings check box, you can then change the security settings on the object itself. You exempt this object from any future project-wide security changes. It will retain its security settings regardless of the security settings of the rest of the functional area Collaboration provides various functional areas where users can perform actions to manage and track their projects.
