Oracle WebCenter Collaboration provides four ways of notifying users about changes that have been made or actions that need to be performed on Oracle WebCenter Collaboration objects.
This topic discusses:
Manual Notification Emails
Automatic Notification Emails
Notification Links
Setup for Notification Emails and Notification Links
RSS Feeds
You can send a manual notification email for any reason by using the Collaboration Notification Email Editor. For more information, see Notification Email. For step-by-step instructions on how to send manual notification emails and notification links, see Sending Notifications.
The system can send an automatic notification email to users who are subscribed to Oracle WebCenter Collaboration objects. This type of notification email is triggered by a notification event. Users must be subscribed to the object relevant to the notification event to receive notification emails about that object. For more information about notification events, their relevant objects and links to documentation that describes where to subscribe to each object, see About Notification Events. For more information on managing existing subscriptions, see Subscriptions.
A notification link is a system-generated URL that you can send to recipients of your choosing. You can copy and paste a notification link into your email editor (such as Microsoft Outlook). For more information, see Notification Link.
Setup for Notification Emails and Notification Links
To receive any kind of notification emails or links:
If your administrator has enabled RSS, you can subscribe to the RSS feed for an object or functional area. This adds the RSS feed to your personal RSS feed. When a notification event occurs on the object, your personal RSS feed is updated with the notification event. For more information on subscribing to RSS feeds and viewing your personal RSS feed, see About RSS Feeds.
