Overview (Application View)

Overview gives you a summary of your project The common workspace for members working together on a project.. It displays the most recent announcements A mechanism for communicating important information to you and other project users. Posted and managed by Project Leaders., uploaded documents Project documents or files are uploaded to Collaboration and held in a repository. Collaboration provides the facilities to check out files, check in revised files, and submit project files to the portal. Collaboration tracks all activities about a file in its file revision history., and discussion messages Any posting. A message can be the original posting in a topic, or it can be a reply to the original posting or to another reply.. It also displays overdue and upcoming tasks A single unit of work done by a user. A task defines the work to be done, the user to do the work, and the start and due dates., as well as a list of all project members and their roles. If the Project Leader chooses to attach an image to the project, it will be displayed in the Overview.

Project Leaders can determine which modules appear in the overview and where they are displayed on the page. Only those modules pertaining to the functional areas enabled for the project are available in the overview.

Overview Action Bar (Project Leaders Only)

The overview layout consists of a full-width container at the top, a narrow container on the bottom left, and a wide container on the bottom right. To reposition a module on the page, drag the module to the desired position (by clicking the title bar of the module, holding the down the mouse button, and moving the mouse), then release the mouse button. A red dashed line indicates where the module will be placed.

Add Modules

Select which modules to display in the overview. In the Add Module dialog box, select the check box next to the modules you want to display and clear the check boxes next to those you want to remove. Click Finish in the Add module dialog box to save your changes.

Expand All

Display the content of each module.

Collapse All

Hide the content of each module and display only the title bar. The collapsed state is not saved and will not be displayed when the page is viewed again. The Project Image module does not have a title bar and cannot be collapsed.

Default Layout

Revert to the default overview layout. The default layout displays the following modules:

  • Project Image (if one exists)

  • Project Information

  • Announcements

  • Recent Messages (if the discussions functional area is enabled)

  • Updated Documents (if the documents functional area is enabled)

Overview Module Actions

 Click
To

Refresh the content of the module without refreshing the entire page.

Project Leaders only. Remove the module from the overview. The Project Image module does not have a title bar and can only be removed through the Add Modules dialog box.

Project Image

Displays an image selected by the Project Leader.

Project Information

Displays the project name, description, and status. The following actions are available from the Project Information module:

Add this project to your My Projects portlet and other Oracle WebCenter Collaboration portlets.

Remove from My Page

Remove this project from your My Projects portlet and other Oracle WebCenter Collaboration portlets.

Subscribe

Subscribe to the project. You will receive immediate notification emails when objects are created or deleted in the project. For more information on notification events, see About Notification Events.

To receive summary notification emails for the project, mouse over the Subscribe button and select Summary email. If your administrator has enabled RSS feeds, you can mouse over the Subscribe button and select RSS to add the RSS feed for the project to your personal RSS feed. Use the Subscription Explorer to configure your summary notification email frequency or to receive more than one type of notification for the project.

Unsubscribe

Unsubscribe from the project. You will stop receiving all types of notification when the contents of the project change.

Subscribe Others

Available to Project Leaders only. Subscribe others to the project using the Subscribe Others Editor. Users will be notified of any changes made to the project.

Available when your administrator has enabled RSS feeds. View the RSS feed for this project. For more information about RSS feeds, see About RSS Feeds.

Notify

Send an email inviting others to view or subscribe to the project. For more information about notification, see About Notification.

Copy the notification link for the project to your clipboard. You can then paste the link directly into your email editor.

Available when Oracle WebCenter Collaboration is integrated with Pathways and when you have the Access Pathways activity right. Apply Pathways tags to the project. Type the tag names, separated by commas, in the text box then click Apply Tags. Click on a tag to view it within the Pathways UI. For more information about Pathways tags, see Using Pathways Tags.

Announcements

Displays the announcements for the project. Announcements convey information from Project Leaders A role in Collaboration. A user in the project leader role has read/write access to all Collaboration objects and can perform all actions related to the objects. This role can set access levels and permissions for user roles in the project. to users. Project Members A role in Collaboration. A user in the Project Member role can view project objects and can perform many key actions related to objects used manage projects. cannot respond to an announcement; it is simply a way to convey important news to all users. Only Project Leaders can create, edit, or delete announcements.  The following actions are available from the Announcements module:

New Announcement

Create a new announcement. Type and format text in the Announcement Editor.

Subscribe

Receive immediate notification emails when announcements are created or deleted. You cannot subscribe to individual announcements. For more information on notification events, see About Notification Events.

To receive summary notification emails for announcements, mouse over the Subscribe button and select Summary email. If your administrator has enabled RSS feeds, you can mouse over the Subscribe button and select RSS to add the announcements RSS feed to your personal RSS feed. Use the Subscription Explorer to configure your summary notification email frequency or to receive more than one type of notification for announcements.

Unsubscribe

Stop receiving all types of notification when announcements are created or deleted. You cannot unsubscribe from individual announcements.

Edit an existing announcement.

Updated Documents

Displays the five most recently modified documents. View a document or file by clicking it.

To launch the Documents explorer, click either Go to Documents or .

Recent Messages

Displays the five most recently modified messages. Reply to a message by clicking it. If your system administrator has enabled the instant messaging feature, you can click the name of the author and chat with him or her online.

To launch the Discussions explorer, click Go to Discussions.

Project Members

Displays the Project Leaders, Project Members, and Project Guests. Click to expand a list; click to collapse a list. The Project Leaders list is expanded by default.

Overdue Tasks

Displays the five most overdue tasks. Overdue tasks whose due dates are furthest from the current date will be displayed first.

To launch the Tasks explorer, click Go to Tasks.

Upcoming Tasks

Displays the next five upcoming tasks. Tasks whose due dates are closest to the current date will be displayed first.

To launch the Tasks explorer, click Go to Tasks.
